5. How to Turn Down Scan Range

If you’re picking up too many RFID tags, you can reduce the scan range to make scanning more precise.

  • Open the UHF Demo or RFID App
  • Tap Settings or Configuration
  • Find the setting for:
    • RF Power, TX Power, or Read Power
  • Adjust the level:
    • 30 dBm = Long range (10–15m)
    • 20 dBm = Medium range (3–5m)
    • 10 dBm = Close range (under 1m)
  • Tap Apply or Save

When to Lower the Range

Situation
Suggested Power
Scanning kits or crates
10–15 dBm
Scanning in a storeroom or truck
15–20 dBm
Scanning across a warehouse floor
25–30 dBm

Pro Tips for Best Scans

  • Hold scanner 30–50 cm from tags
  • RFID doesn’t need line of sight (great for scanning inside bags or crates)
  • Don’t point camera at reflective surfaces
  • If beeps are too loud/quiet → adjust with Volume + /
