How to Guide: Run an Instant StockTake

Use the G2G app onsite to create a live digital record, giving crews confidence and admin users real-time transparency.

Every stocktake you run with the RFID Handheld Reader in the G2G app that is saved as a snapshot is logged and instantly in the G2G console. That means you can quickly confirm what’s on hand, while admin teams gain time-stamped visibility of stock levels across every location.

Follow the steps below to conduct your ad-hoc inventory stocktake (or watch our demo video ):

1. Start Inventory Scan

  • Fire up the G2G app.
  • Select the Inventory Scan function.

2. Scan your ID Tag

  • Find your ID Tag (Location Tag).
  • To start the Stocktake scan the RFID Location Tag, this will allow the system to know where you are.

3. Start your Equipment Stocktake

  • To commence your Stocktake hold down the trigger of the Handheld scanner.
  • Walking slowly in a sweeping motion move the scanner through the space.
  • The Beeps indicate that the tags are being read successfully.

3. Watch the Live Screen

  • The screen will display a list of the registered assets you have scanned.
  • Any Assets that have not been registered will appear as unregistered RFID tags.

4. Record any notes on the Stocktake and Save

  • To record a snapshot of your stocktake click Save.
  • You can make add a note to your stocktake prior to Saving.
  • The system records the stocktake with a full breakdown of what was:
    • Found
    • The location and time
    • Message entered from the user.

Use Cases in Action

  • Ad-hoc check → Confirm equipment in storage areas without planning ahead.
  • Before dispatch → Make sure containers are loaded correctly.
  • After return → Validate that all gear came back with the crew.
  • Routine audits → Replace time-heavy spreadsheets with a 3-second scan.

Because when you need to know what’s in the room, G2G shows you instantly.

Tips from Experienced Crews

  • Always scan the container/room ID Tag first so results are logged correctly.
  • Keep the trigger pressed down the entire time you’re sweeping.
  • Sweep slow and steady — accuracy is better than speed.
  • Flag unregistered tags so they can be investigated later.
  • Use notes to capture anything unusual for admin follow-up.

The Payoff

Running an Instant Stocktake onsite does more than confirm counts in the moment:

  • For crews → It’s a fast, reliable way to check what’s actually present.
  • For admin users → It leaves a clear, digital trail in the G2G console — showing exactly what was scanned, where, and when.

That’s how G2G connects the ground truth with operational oversight — making every stocktake both a local check and a system-wide update.
