G2G Customer FAQs

Answers to common questions about using G2G

Q: What is the purpose of the G2G system?

G2G is designed to help organisations track, manage, and audit physical Assets and inventory across Locations and mobile units. It ensures accountability, compliance, and readiness by combining Asset-level tracking, Location-level management, Manifests, and Workflows.

Q: How does Asset tracking work?

Every Asset in G2G can be registered with unique identifiers including any combination of RFID, Bluetooth Beacons, QR Codes and GPS Trackers. Users can then conduct Stocktakes in seconds, apply Manifests to perform Inventory Checks and log inspections or usage events. Fixed Bluetooth Readers can see any Bluetooth Tagged asset with 50m. GPS Trackers report back on their Location at configured intervals that dynamically adjust to Assets at rest or in transit. Bluetooth Gateway enabled Asset Trackers report back on their own Location AND the Bluetooth tagged items travelling with them. Any Asset can have any combination of RFID, Bluetooth and or GPS tags. Large Assets can have multiple tags. Locations can have any number and combination of fixed readers assigned to them. Dynamic Assets like vehicles and Containers can have wired-in or battery powered trackers, with or without Bluetooth sensing capability. Assets deployed to remote Locations can have rugged GPS Trackers with satellite backhaul. Assets that are likely to spend large amounts of time under cover or inside can have fusion GPS trackers that fail back from Satellite to Wifi sniffing to cell tower triangulation to determine their location even when they canโ€™t see the sky. This combination of point-in-time scans & checks, along with passive reads from always-on Bluetooth Tags, Readers and GPS Trackers provides versatile Asset Tracking coverage for a huge range of use cases.

Q: What are Manifests, and how do they work?

A Manifest is a list of items expected to be present on an Asset or at a Location.

  • Manifests on Assets help confirm that an Asset, like a toolbox or vehicle, is complete and ready for use.
  • Manifests on Locations ensure all items that should be in a room, warehouse or department are accounted for.
    • Users can apply multiple Manifests to the same Asset or Location depending on operational needs.

Q: Can I track maintenance and inspections?

Yes. G2G supports Asset inspections. You can set up Custom Fields for dates, checklists, or status updates, and track the last service or inspection for each Asset. Using Forms, automated Workflows can alert responsible staff if an Asset fails a check or an inspection has been completed.

Q: How does the system handle large Inventory or Stocktakes?

G2G is built for scale. There is no limit to the number of Assets, Locations, Readers or Users in an Account. The use of Asset Types and Custom Fields ensures naming conventions and meta-data captured is consistent across any number of the same item, anywhere in your organisation. Large environments can be divided into hierarchical Location structures, each with their own readers.

Common Manifests, Inspections and Forms can be applied to any number of Asset Types or Locations at the same time. G2G tracks completion status, identifies missing or unexpected items, and triggers automated follow-ups. Teams can perform Stocktakes using Handhled Readers that can cover any any sized environment, from a single trailer to an entire depot, without requiring costly fixed infrastructure to be installed.

Q: What types of Custom Fields can I use?

Custom Fields capture additional data for Assets, Locations, or Manifests. Common types include:

  • Checkboxes for yes/no questions (e.g., In Service, Under Warranty)
  • Dropdowns for predefined options (e.g., Condition: Good, Fair, Poor)
  • Dates & Date/Time for purchase, inspection, or usage events
  • Numbers & Decimals for quantities, readings or measurements
  • Short Text for serial numbers, codes, or operator names
  • Links to forms, manuals, or external systems

Q: How do Workflows and email notifications work?

Workflows can be configured to trigger emails based on Inventory Scans, Stocktake and Disptach events. Examples include:

  • Notifying managers of missing or damaged Assets
  • Triggering maintenance requests after an inspection fails
  • Alerting managers when Assets are Dispatched
    • Workflows can be customised to ensure accountability and timely response.

Q: How do I apply Manifests to Assets or Locations?

  • Asset Manifests: Open the Asset in the G2G Console, locate the Manifests section, and add or edit Manifests.
  • Location Manifests: Navigate to the Location, open Settings, scroll to Manifests, and configure as needed.
    • Multiple Manifests can coexist and be selected during Inventory Checks depending on the context.

Q: What is a Snapshot?

A Snapshot is a saved record of an inventory or Manifest Check at a specific point in time. When you complete a Stocktake or Inventory Check in the G2G App, the results are automatically saved as a Snapshot in the G2G Console. Snapshots give you a searchable history of Asset readiness, helping teams confirm compliance and identify trends over time.

Q: What's the difference between a Stocktake and an Inventory Check?

Both are ways to verify what Assets are present, but they work differently:

  • Stocktake โ€” A broad scan of a Location or zone to identify all Assets present. It answers the question: "What is here?"
  • Inventory Check โ€” A structured check of Assets against a Manifest. It answers the question: "Is everything that should be here, actually here?"
    • Use Stocktakes for general visibility and Inventory Checks when you need to confirm readiness against a defined list.

Q: What's the difference between the G2G Console and the G2G App?

The two platforms serve different roles within the G2G system:

  • G2G Console โ€” A web-based admin portal used by administrators and managers to set up Assets, Locations, Manifests, Workflows, and Custom Fields, and to review Snapshots and reports.
  • G2G App โ€” A mobile application used by field staff to run Stocktakes, perform Inventory Checks, and scan RFID or QR-coded Assets on the ground.
    • Most day-to-day operational scanning happens in the App, while configuration and reporting happens in the Console.

Q: How do I track when an Asset moves between Locations?

G2G includes a Dispatch feature that records when an Asset is sent from one Location to another. You can log a Dispatch from either the G2G Console or the G2G App, and the movement is automatically recorded in that Asset's history. This gives you a clear audit trail of where an Asset has been and when it was transferred.
