Editing your Asset Types Library

Step by Step guide on how to fix or update your Asset Category names.

Your Asset Types Library defines how your equipment is grouped and displayed in G2G. Occasionally, you may need to correct or update a category name to keep things clear and consistent across your organisation.

This guide walks you through editing an existing Equipment Category in your library — whether it’s fixing a naming error or simplifying how it's shown in the system.

✅ Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Find the Asset Type

  • Using the main menu select Asset Types, this will display all the Asset Types set up in the system.
  • Search for the Asset Type you would like to edit and ensure that it needs changing.

Step 2: Edit the Category Name

  • Click the category name you want to update.
  • Once select click on the Edit link in the Type Name table.

⚠️ Caution Before Editing

  • Make sure you have edit permissions for the Types Library.
  • Avoid changing category names in ways that might confuse teams already using the system.
  • Double-check spelling and capitalisation — especially for categories shared across multiple sites.

💡 Tips for Efficiency

  • Use naming templates across your organisation (e.g., “Power Tools”, “Support Vehicles”, “Height Safety Gear”).
  • Keep a record of any major edits for auditing or internal reference.
  • If updating several categories, use a checklist to track progress.

A consistent Types Library saves time, reduces search errors, and makes your system easier to use — especially in large or high-turnover teams.
