If you come across a loose RFID tag, you’ll need to check if it’s registered in the system and what asset it belongs to. Here’s how:
- Scan the tag
Open the G2G app, select Inspect, and pull the trigger on the RFID Scanner Gun to scan the tag.
- Check the result
- The Asset or ID number at the top of the list is the tag that is the closest to you.
- If the tag is registered, the name of the linked registered asset will appear in green.
- If the tag is unregistered it will appear as ID number in black.

Troubleshooting: What to Do Next
Tag is Unregistered
- Look for a nearby asset without a tag.
- Attach the newly registered tag to the asset.
Tag is Registered and in Good Condition
- If the tag is still usable, reattach it securely to the asset.
Tag is Registered but Damaged
- If the tag is faulty or can’t be reattached:
- Cancel (delete) the tag in the system.
- Create and register a new tag.
- Attach the new tag to the asset.
Quick Steps: Update an RFID Tag
- Open the asset in the G2G app → Asset Information screen.
- Click the old tag → it will show with a strikethrough.
- Click Add Tag → scan the new tag.
- Click Save Changes → confirmation message appears.
✅ Done! The asset now shows only the new tag.
User Tips
- If a tag doesn’t scan, it may be faulty. Replace it with a new tag and hand the faulty one to your G2G administrator.
- Whenever you find a loose tag, deal with it right away. This helps prevent assets from becoming untagged and reduces the risk of losing track of equipment.
