Over time, your asset library may accumulate incorrect or duplicate entries. Cleaning these up keeps your system consistent, accurate, and easy to use — especially on large sites or shared fleets.
This guide walks you through safely deleting an incorrect Asset Type (e.g. a mistyped category or placeholder like “Other Equipment”) from your G2G system.
✅ Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Select “Asset Types” from the main menu
- Navigate to the relevant Equipment Category in your system
- Review the list of Asset Types currently assigned under that group.
Step 2: Identify the Incorrect Type
- Look for any incorrect, duplicate, or placeholder types (e.g. “Misc Items” or “Other Equipment”).
- Confirm that the type is not in use or assigned to active assets.
Step 3: Delete the Incorrect Type
- Click on the incorrect Asset Type you want to remove.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Show Advanced Settings
- Click Delete Permanently.
Step 4: Confirm Deletion
- A system prompt will ask for confirmation.
- Click Yes, delete it to proceed.
- The system will remove the type from the library.
Step 5: Review What Remains
- Return to the original Equipment Category.
- Double-check that only valid, active Asset Types remain.
⚠️ Caution Before Deleting
- Only delete Asset Types that are not linked to active equipment.
- If you're unsure, check the asset list or contact your admin.
- Deleting a type linked to existing assets may affect tracking or reporting.
💡 Best Practice Tips
- Regularly review your Asset Types Library during audits or project closeouts.
- Keep naming consistent — use templates like “Excavator”, “Harness”, “Portable Light Tower”
- Record any changes (e.g. deleted or merged types) for future reference or reporting.
Keeping your Asset Types clean makes everything else easier — from inspections to movement tracking and daily reporting.
